The most recent OLIS staff addition, Karen Gardner-Athey, comes to us from Gaylord Information Systems (GIS), where she was employed for almost 7 years. She received her MLS from UCLA and worked in a variety of libraries in Southern California, before moving to Central New York. In 1993, she received a Master of Science in Information Resources Management from the School of Information Studies at Syracuse University and started with GIS shortly thereafter. Karen worked with Joanne Reid, formerly of Multilis, and now a Senior Product Analyst with GIS, on acquisitions and serials issues. By the way, acquisitions and serials are Karen's favorite modules to teach, in part because of working so closely with Joanne. "I am impressed with the depth of functionality that I have seen with Aleph500 and am looking forward to working with each of the SUNY campuses as they migrate their library automation systems. This is an exciting time for everyone!" Karen is working with Sally Goodwin and other members of OLIS to develop (and eventually conduct) ALEPH training sessions. |
